Chapter Philanthropy and Service

As Tri Deltas, we are so honored to be able to support such an amazing philanthropy like St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

St. Jude works to end childhood cancer without families ever having to pay a bill for treatment. Through hard work, they have raised the childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to 80%.

Tri Delta's partnership with St. Jude began in 1999, and today we are St. Jude’s largest donor partnership. That means our chapter has helped to be part of the most substantial financial supporter St. Jude works with. We have helped to raise over 93 million dollars in support of St Jude’s mission, and that is something we pride ourselves in every day.

In 2014, Tri Delta committed to raising 60 million dollars in 10 years. This goal was achieved two years ahead of schedule in 2022. To honor this commitment, a short-term housing facility on St Jude’s campus in Memphis, Tennessee was named Tri Delta Place. Tri Delta Place provides up to 100 families with a comfortable, fun, patient-safe place to live while they are at St. Jude for a short time. It is one of the only short-term housing facilities on the St. Jude campus.

Tri Delta has also worked to fund other things at St. Jude to help improve patients’ experiences while they are there. This includes the St. Jude teen room and the Patient Care Floor.

We as a chapter had the opportunity to hear from former St. Jude patients who have shared their hospital stories with us. This allows us to feel more connected to St. Jude and see just how important our support is to those who benefit directly from it.

We visit St. Jude every other year to see the campus and all that St. Jude does firsthand. It is very special for us as many patients have become Tri Deltas and many Tri Deltas go on to work and become staff members at St. Jude.

As a chapter, we raise more than $70,000 annually for St. Jude through hosting several philanthropy events such as Tri-Hop, Deltapalooza, Silent Auction, and Sincerely Yours.

Tri Hop is our annual pancake supper event where we get to host the community at our house. We get to spend time with our sisters and friends while enjoying a nice pancake meal. This year we hosted the event in the fall for the first time and it featured a pancake eating competition. In the past, we have also had other games and a band that has played on the patio for people to enjoy while they eat. This event raises nearly 10,000 dollars annually and is most of our members’ favorite.

This spring we hosted our first-ever Deltapalooza event! Deltapalooza was a benefit concert featuring five local Athens bands. All proceeds from the event went to support St. Jude. It was a fun night spent with our sisters and members of the community while listening to some of the great music that Athens has to offer.

Our silent auction event happens at our fall parents’ weekend. We auction off fun prizes that our families bid on with all proceeds going to St. Jude.

The largest fundraiser we put on each year is our Sincerely Yours event. Sincerely Yours is our annual letter-writing campaign where members write letters to friends and family asking them to donate to St. Jude. This year the event is also featuring pop-up shops by several local shops and a pickleball tournament on the house patio!

The money that we raise at our philanthropy events throughout the year helps to make treatment possible for many St. Jude patients and allows families to focus on what truly matters, their child. Our philanthropy events allow us to unite and work towards something bigger than ourselves.
